10 Free Kindle Books to Download Pre-Holiday Travels!! Suspense, Mystery, Romance, Historical Fiction, Steampunk, Zombies, and more!

Dear friends - please note, these are affiliate links, which means I get a small commission for your purchases at no additional cost to you.  Thank you for helping keep me caffeinated and my dog supplied with treats!  As always, all opinions are my own, and I will never recommend something I wouldn't buy myself.

It occurred to me today that you, like me, might be doing a lot of traveling over the next month or so.  And furthermore, that you, like me, might prefer to travel light, while still having plenty of reading material to help pass time in the car or on the plane.

(Please note, if you are DRIVING the car, I recommend saving the reading for later...  same for the plane.  If you are PILOTING the plane, step away from the kindle / phone / book, my friend!)

So, all that in mind, here is a list of 10 FREE kindle downloads that are guaranteed to keep you entertained!  Or at least, keep you from dwelling on family drama.  Don't let it get you down!!  We've all been there!  You are a rock in the stream, and the water flows over... you are a flower in a field and the wind blows over....  ;P

10 Awesome Books You Can Download for FREE From Amazon

The Haunted Hotel, by Wilkie Collins -- A fun creepy read, written by a Victorian mystery master!  A short novel, so nothing that will overwhelm you during the busy holidays.  Ghostly enough that I had to have a nightlight after finishing it, TRUTH!  But then my creepy-tolerance is low late at night in general, so.... you'll have to read it yourself and let me know what you think.

Lady of Devices, by Shelley Adina -- A lively and entertaining steampunk drama, which I reviewed here.

Three Men and a Maid, by PG Wodehouse - Classic British humorist!  Love love love.

Flotsam and Jetsam, by Carrie Ryan -- I really enjoyed the zombie series, The Forest of Hands and Teeth (oh that zombie baby...! *shudders*), so I was excited to find this short story (set in the same universe) for free!  Haven't read this one yet myself, so let me know what you think and we'll compare notes later, k?

Only Time Will Tell, by Jeffrey Archer -- Just downloaded this one, but it has a LOT of positive reviews!  It is described as an "epic" tale, set in the 1920s, of a young man seeking to discover his own identity.  I'm guessing this one won't stay free for long, so nab it if you want it!

Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Deadly Magic, by Meghan Ciana Doidge -- This one is kind of a perfect airplane read, at least if you like supernatural / werewolves / vampires type fiction.  It's a light, funny mystery, with a dash of romance.  I reviewed it here.

Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes, by Denise Grove Swank - This suspense / romance has a ton of great reviews!  I don't think this one will be free for long either, so nab it quick and we can discuss what we think about it later!

Susanna and the Spy, by Anna Elliott -- A fun and fluffy period novel, involving romance and (you guessed it) espionage.

The Man With Two Left Feet and Other Stories, by PG Wodehouse - More British humor and unlikely situations!  You can read my review here.

The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins -- full review here --  An awesome suspenseful tale of mistaken identity!

Don't forget to charge your device, and do your downloading before you leave your house!  No reason to waste data when you can use wifi instead.  And if you're on a plane, be a good citizen and use airplane mode!

Have fun reading!  Meet me back here and we'll talk books again soon.  Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Awesome! Gotta love the free books--I can rarely spend myself to actually spend money on downloads, if I'm spending money, I just opt for the paperback instead, haha!
Just to add to your list, since we're talking about free books, I would recommend "Unwanted" by Jennifer Park. I actually got to read the book before it was publish and while it was still in the works, so I kind of know it inside and out. It's really high quality compared to many free books out there. It's an odd romance story set in South Korea. Here's the link to the book's page, for any readers who need more than 10 books to read over the holidays. :) https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/546530
